Working to rebuild trust & confidence in our Oklahoma Republican Party!
Watch this short video. You will find I'm not afraid to tackle difficult situations, I will face all of them head on. I will always be completely honest, transparent and open about all aspects of the OKGOP business. I will be honored to have you hold me accountable, as no one sets the bar higher for me, than me.
As I was finalizing my decision to run for Chair of the OKGOP, a few thoughts kept popping in my mind. First, am I crazy? This isn't like a normal campaign, it is a sprint to the finish, a statewide one at that. Do I really want to put my wife, my family and myself through that insanity? Second, the division in our party is unique, like nothing I have ever experienced in all my life in Oklahoma Republican Politics. Third, I have a fabulous swimming pool, the most amazing grandkids in the world and a Harley Davidson that are all an awful lot of fun. Finally, we, the party, is facing an enormous financial burden in the form of FEC fines. All this goes back to my original thought-am I crazy? We know the answer is a resounding YES!
The why? I believe everything happens for a reason; God doesn't put us in places where we can't be used as his tool. I believe I am the right person to take on all the challenges we are facing. I was made for times such as this. Over the past several months I have been working directly with the attorney and all parties involved on the FEC matter. I DO NOT QUIT ON PEOPLE, when I start a job, I finish. I want to finish this business with the FEC fines and put our party on a firm financial foundation for many years to come. No one else (running) has the corporate business experience or the financial expertise to effectively manage this matter. I believe it is time that we treat our state party like the professional business that it is. I can deploy internal controls, safeguards and business strategies that will ensure our party operates efficiently, effectively and seamlessly from one administration to the next. As the stakeholders of our business, you should want the most qualified and capable person to be in this position.
The how. How will I navigate the division, the different voices and opinions in our party? I believe we must bring all sides to the table, and there must be a willingness from all sides to come as well. Nothing can be resolved without communication, professionalism and respect for one another. I believe we all have something to offer, the key is finding the best places to get the best use out of each individuals talent. I do not profess to have all the answers. I know I can learn much from each of you and want to. For far too long our state party and many of our county party offices have been operated like an elite social club. Committee appointments only went to close friends and the doors seem to be locked to anyone who didn't have the secret password. Our state party should be a highly respected, functional and organized operation. Currently it is none of those things. I commit to putting people in leadership roles and committee appointments that come from all sides. Much like Lincolns' cabinet of adversaries, I believe it will only make our party stronger by ensuring all Republican voices are represented.
I can promise you this, if you see fit to elect me as your next chairman, there is no one who will work harder for you, work to rebuild your trust and confidence in the party, and who will be completely open and transparent in all operations. It will be an honor and privilege to serve as your next OKGOP Chair.
Honored to sit down with David Van & Eddie Huff on their Fresh Black Coffee Podcast. We discussed the current situation facing the OKGOP with the FEC fines, how to bridge the gap with the division in the party, transparency in leadership and my 17 years of sobriety.
How can I help you get more engaged in your Oklahoma Republican Party?
